A True British Recipe.

Ingredients

3 large onions
2 large carrots
Full Bag of beef mince.
8-10 large potatoes.
Medium bowl of grated cheese.
Smidge of butter.
Black pepper
Salt
Beef gravy granules.
15ml olive oil.
2 beef stock cubes (I use oxo)
More butter (to mash)
Milk (to mash)

(I sometimes use mushrooms too not all the time but when I do I use about 6 medium mushrooms. Any kind of cheese can be used I just use my favourite so you could just use yours too.)

Method

Peel and wash all the potatoes then put them in hot water and salt, bring to a boil on a high heat, then heat the oil in another saucepan. When the potatoes have boiled put them on a low heat and leave. Chop and peel the carrots and onions and put them in the sauce pan and cook till soft, then add the mince meat a little at a time on a medium heat and wait for the meat to brown before adding more. When the meat has browned add stock cubes. Then make just a little bit of gravy and add to the meat. Constantly stirring or the meat will burn.
Then add black pepper. Next butter the dish which it is going to cook in. check if the potatoes are cooked fully. If they are drain them and mash adding as much butter and milk to your taste. Place all the meat in the bottom of the dish and spread evenly. Then do the same with the potato. Cook in the oven on 180 for 20 minutes then add the cheese all over the top and cook for a further 5 mins

I made this for the first time last night, and couldn’t believe how easy it was – and how delicious! Only just started learning how to cook and this turned out brilliantly – thanks for adding!
