Here is a great recipe for a simple lasagna. Try and follow the instructions as closely as you can and you shouldn’t go too wrong. Once you have mastered this you will probably find you can start to add your own personalised touch to your next lasagna efforts. There are quite a few other lasagna recipes on this site, including one which substitutes the Bechemal for Ricotta cheese for a really cheesy lasagna. Good luck!

Ingredients

Minced Beef 450g
Tin of Tomatoes 400g
Mushrooms 100g
Chopped onion 1
Garlic 1 clove
Beef Stock 1/2 pint (300ml)
Butter 25g
Lasagne Verdi 1 Packet

FOR THE WHITE SAUCE
Milk 300ml
Butter 25g
Plain Flour 25g
Grated Cheddar 50g

Method

1. To prepare the Meat Sauce, fry the Mince Beef and Onion until brown.
2. Stir in the Stock, Garlic, Tomatoes and Mushrooms (sliced).
3. Cook for about an hour until thick and rich.
4. If necessary add 2 tablespoons of Cornflour dissolved in a small amount of cold water to thicken.
5. Grease an oven proof dish.
6. To make the Bechamel sauce, melt the Butter, stir the Flour in and add the Milk,
stirring until thickened.
7. Grate the Cheese and add. Add seasoning to taste.
8. Layer the ingredients repeatedly, starting with the Meat Sauce, then the Lasagne, ending with the Bechamel Sauce.
9. Sprinkle some Parmesan Cheese on top and bake in the oven at 400F / 200C / Mark 6 for about 45 minutes.
10. Serve with Parmesan Cheese.

Serves: 4
Preparation time: 20 mins
Cooking time: 60 mins

no mst lasagne sheets have no precook required written on the box but some brands recommend soaking in hot water for 10 mins. i prefer to use the no precook personally

Try adding t spoon of english mustard when making the white sause, and for the Lasange mix, add a splash of red wine.

Try adding dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, basil & oregano) and for an extra special twist add some cinnamon really makes it AWESOME!!!

stupid recipe, fundamentally flawed, doesn;t mention the parmesan in the recipe initially. gives impression you only use one layer of meat, one layer of pasta and one layer of beschamel sauce. states prep time 20 mins cook time 60 mins. So how can you cook meat for an hour or until thick, then layer up, then bake for 45 mins in oven, and state cook time is 60 mins. When i went to school 60+45 =105 Remember some people out there cannot cook have no experience, if a novice followed this recipe for their partner. The relationship would last about 3 hours cos thats how long the dish would be late. Make recipes idiot proof. AAARRRGGGH

“cook for an hour” then later “bake for 45mins” and the cooking time is 60 mins……. I hope the quantities are correct…….

  • Novice chef says:

As a complete novice to cooking, I entered ‘Simple Lasagne Recipe’ into Google and the No 1 search was this one

    A suggestion:

Either A) Explain what ‘Verdi’ means

    or

    B) Advise to boil lasgane sheets

    Merry Christmas
